Annie SchneiderSelfless dedication
It seems everyone else comes first.
Like scores of women across the globe, Annie Schneider's first inclination is to serve others. From raising three children, to working on the church council, to running for charity, Schneider puts other needs before her own. Rather than draining the emotional bucket however, she is enjoying the rewards of selfless dedication.
"I'm always thinking of doing something for others," she says. "Real estate has been really good to me. I'm happy to give back by serving on the JCAR Board."
Schneider begins her term on October 1.
Before becoming a REALTOR in 1992, she spent many years as a headhunter. With a quick smile and approachable attitude, she was a natural spending her days interviewing people and matching them to new jobs. As a REALTOR, she now does much the same, though instead of jobs she is pairing people with homes.
After working for years at Coldwell Banker and Century 21, she has found a home at Re/Max Professionals under the direction of broker Al Smith. She works in the residential market throughout the metro area, with an emphasis in the western suburbs of Arvada, Wheat Ride and Applewood.
"I work by referral," she says, "and now I'm selling homes to the children of past clients."
At one time, says Schneider, friends called her the "real estate princess" because she primarily worked in the luxury home market. That demographic was financially profitable, she admits, but now she also enjoys working with first-time buyers.
"It's fun to help people buy their first home. It's a huge emotional paycheck," she notes.
Off the Cuff: Running for good: Just three years ago Schneider began running marathons and triathlons. Now she runs 8 to 20 miles daily and has traveled to California, Arizona and Nevada to participate in fundraising events for leukemia, lymphoma and other causes. "I'm a late bloomer. It's what I call adult-onset athleticism. Taking up running got me out there doing something and helping others, too."
Family ties: Schneider and her husband, David, have three children, ages 5, 8 and 21. The family is active at Holy Shepherd Lutheran Church in Lakewood and she serves on the church council.
Most likely to smile: Others frequently describe her as happy. "People always say I have a smile on my face," she says, "that I'm one of the happiest people they know."
