Registration of Foreclosed, Vacant or Distressed Properties

The Jefferson County Sheriff is asking the Board of County Commissioners to adopt an ordinance regulating properties in foreclosure, vacant or distressed. The proposal was scheduled for first reading on March 1, but was pulled from the agenda at the request of Commissioner Don Rosier. JCAR has numerous concerns about the proposed ordinance. Fundamentally, we question if the proposal will address the identified problem. The JCAR leadership will continue to meet with the County Commissioners to work towards a solution.
